Employment Opportunities in S.A.

In South Australia there are many opportunities for Occupational Therapists to obtain employment, especially for those with some experience.  If you are seeking employment from November to March, however, you may find it more difficult as you will have increased competition from the graduating Occupational Therapy students.

Many jobs in South Australia are within the public sector (ie. government funded) and once you are working in this sector, it becomes easier to obtain other Occupational Therapy jobs.  A good way to get into the public sector is to either take up a locum position and/or a position in rural South Australia.

Within the public sector Occupational Therapists are classified as Professional Services Officers (PSO). There are a number of PSO levels, with graduating Occupational Therapists most often obtaining a PSO-1 position, which has a salary range of $47,134 to $57,846 (as of 1/10/2007).

Positions currently available in South Australia can be found in our Members Area.
